May 27th – China
The immediate response by ShelterBox of 800 boxes to China
is finally reaching some of the Sichuan Provinces worst hit villages. The distribution of the first 200 boxes began today by the 4-man ShelterBox Response Team on the ground. The first consignment of boxes where split into two lots of 100. UK SRT leader Pat Prendergast reports from the villeages of Pengzhou & Bailurom that “tents are up and the locals are extremely happy, they are no doubt going to be under canvas for some time, ShelterBox tents are creating an excellent base.”
May 15 – MYANMAR (Burma)
CHARTER FLIGHT OF 1000 BOXES ARRIVES IN MYANMAR -
The on-site SRT team has trained many Myanmar disaster teams in Yangon on Shelterbox contents and setting up of tents. Planned distribution of the new shipment is various locations in the outlying Delta and islands.The boxes will be transported straight off the aircraft onto trucks and then into affected areas with the local staff in field.
May 16 – China
ShelterBox has made an initial commitment of 400 boxes to assist the earthquake victims in China. Boxes will be channeled in through Hong Kong and Beijing Rotary Clubs and the China Charity Federation. The boxes are destined for Changdu City in the Sichuan Province.

What's in a Shelterbox?
Shelterboxes are usually packed with one (sometimes two) ten-person tent(s)
(200 sq ft). Other items can include insulated sleeping mats and bags, thermal blankets,
water purification tablets, water containers/carriers,
a trenching shovel, rope, a hachet, a jack-knife, a screwdriver,
a hammer, a multi-fueled cook stove, eating utensils and plates,
and a childrens' activity kit.

2006 in Review
In 2006 Shelterbox responded to
disaster situations in 12 different countries, providing
emergency accommodations for more than 82,000 disaster victims.
The year began with aid still being delivered to earthquake victims in Kashmir,
who also received further help in November. The year's biggest emergency
was in Java, when the island was hit by an earthquake,
a volcanic eruption, and a tsunami within just a few weeks.
