Torrential rain caused by the tail end of Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc in El Salvador. Huge flooding and highly destructive landslides forced around 14,000 people out of their homes and into temporary shelter.
ShelterBox Response Team members Noel Currie (CA) and John Lacquey (US) were immediately deployed to the region. 324 ShelterBoxes were sent from pre-positioned stock in Panama.
Speaking from the scene of the disaster, John said: "One man was trying to describe what happened and he just broke down in tears."
