Flooding and volcanic activity

When the Boxing Day Tsunami struck South East Asia in 2004, Sri Lanka was the second-worst affected nation.  Tidal waves obliterated whole communities along the country’s southern and eastern coastlines leaving thousands of people homeless.  In late 2004 and early 2005 ShelterBox sent a toal of 2,744 boxes to the country, many of which contained 2 tents.  These extra tents resulted in ShelterBox providing shelter for up to 47,392 people.
