ShelterBox provided aid for the tens of thousands people displaced by conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Volunteering ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) members trained up to five different Scout groups from the Goma region in the usage of the box and its contents. 400 tents were deployed to Kabati where 30,000 internally displaced persons fled from conflict zones.
Working with United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Food Program (WFP) ShelterBox was able to establish an important contribution to the main processing camp.
In July 2009 ShelterBox returned to the region, working with UNHCR and WFP to oversee the distribution of aid to 600 families returning to their homes.
