An Australian couple have been named Paul Harris Fellows by Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee. The prestigious title is awarded to Rotarians who have contributed a significant amount of money to the Annual Programs Fund and is marked by a commemorative certificate and pin.

The announcement of the award came as a surprise to Peter and Lorraine Croft who were attending an event at the Rotary Club of Dubbo Macquarie, Australia this week. The couple were amongst a crowd of 300 Rotarians, who had gathered to hear an address from the organization’s International President Kalyan Banerjee, when their names were read out.

The couple were instrumental in raising funds for 50 ShelterBoxes and are big supporters of ShelterBox and its mission to deliver life saving aid to families in need around the world.

Speaking to Australian newspaper the Daily Liberal, Peter Croft said, "I was absolutely overcome and for the rest of the evening shell shocked. We live a full and rounded Rotary life, you name it we do it."

The prestigious award has spurred the couple on to continue their work as Rotary District 9670 ShelterBox representatives and they say that their new ShelterBox presentation now features photographs from the night they met President Banerjee.
