ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and other essential items to families who have lost their homes to disasters. With operational headquarters in Cornwall, the charity also has 15 affiliate organizations worldwide. The charity has been Rotary International’s project partner in disaster relief since 2012.

Hospitals already under strain from COVID-19 are overwhelmed. With Haiti in the path of Tropical Storm Grace, survivors of the earthquake could be hit tonight by strong winds, rain, flooding and deadly mudslides. Many will be facing these conditions with their homes already destroyed.

Climate Crisis Will Destroy 167 Million Homes in 20 Years

Peer-reviewed ShelterBox study shows that if extreme weather events continue to increase at current rates, we face losing 8.35 million homes a year between now and 2040. That’s 167 million homes – the equivalent of all homes in the UK wiped out six times or all of the homes in the US.

2 Million People Supported

ShelterBox has surpassed providing support to 2 million people as of April 2021. The disaster relief organization was founded in 2000. The organization was nominated in 2018 and 2019 for the Nobel Peace Prize in acknowledgement of its work in some of the world’s most extreme conflict zones.

Canoeing the Mississippi River

Shark Tank viewers received a LuminAID update after the inflatable solar light invention made its debut on the investment reality show in 2015.
