STATEMENT - JUNE 3, 2020
ShelterBox Chief Executive says that ‘Black lives matter. All should be treated equally and humanely while ensuring respect for each individual life’.
A MESSAGE FROM SANJ SRIKANTHAN
“As a global disaster relief organisation rooted in the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, and impartiality, we believe black lives matter and all should be treated equally and humanely, while ensuring respect for each individual life.
“At ShelterBox, we are committed to working with partners in an environment that promotes mutual understanding, cooperation, friendship, and peace among all people. The events of the last week have only strengthened this priority for ShelterBox and our resolve to distribute assistance impartially to reach those most in need.
“Our mission is rooted in supporting the rights of refugees and displaced people around the world. This commitment carries to standing in solidarity with oppressed people in our own country, who are living with their own forms of violence, oppression and displacement. ShelterBox vows to work to tackle racism, injustice and discrimination – including in our own workplace – by listening to the people we serve. The equal treatment of all is the abiding principle we stand by”.
