13 Years Strong! ShelterBox Ride Returns June 7th
From Henderson Harbor to Homes Around the World: Cyclists Ride for ShelterBox
On June 7, the small town of Henderson Harbor, New York, will come alive with the energy of cyclists riding not just for the joy of the journey—but for a global cause.
More than 100 riders, from toddlers in trailers to octogenarians on two wheels, will take part in the 13th Annual Ride for ShelterBox, organized by longtime Ambassador and Rotarian Tom Dueson. Hosted by the Watertown Rotary Club, the event invites participants to pedal through picturesque farmland and lakefront roads—all while raising funds for families displaced by disaster and conflict.
“This ride allows me to combine two of my passions—bicycle riding and supporting ShelterBox,” Tom shared. “It’s just wonderful to see the two come together for this annual event.”
This year’s ride comes at a time of urgent global need. ShelterBox is currently delivering emergency shelter and essential supplies to families in places like Gaza, Chad, and Myanmar, where a powerful earthquake recently devastated entire communities. For families who have fled with nothing, aid like sturdy tents, solar lights, and water filters provides not only practical relief—but the space to begin again.
“The cyclists in the Annual Ride for ShelterBox are the epitome of motivation in motion,” said Kerri Murray, President of ShelterBox USA. “They’re turning their passion into real-world impact for people who’ve lost everything.”
Riders can choose from 13, 28, or 52-mile routes, all culminating in a celebratory spaghetti and meatball feast—well-earned fuel for a day spent creating change.
The Annual Ride for ShelterBox isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a reflection of community, commitment, and the belief that even a small town in upstate New York can make a global impact.
