Hall of Fame volunteers

May 15, 2017

ShelterBox volunteers, Bill Woodard, and team Jeff Lichty and Mary Sloan, have been recognized by international disaster relief organization, ShelterBox, for reaching a major fundraising milestone this year.

Since joining the organization as volunteer fundraisers, they have raised more than $100,000 for disaster survivors worldwide.

ShelterBox provides humanitarian aid—emergency tented shelter and other supplies—such as stoves, blankets and water filtration systems, among other items to help families rebuild their lives after losing their homes and possessions following a disaster such as earthquake, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict.

Of the nearly 500 ShelterBox volunteer Ambassadors, Woodard, Lichty and Sloan join 17 other volunteers who have reached this milestone, earning a spot in the ShelterBox Hall of Fame. The funds raised through their efforts have provided more than 100 families with humanitarian aid during their greatest time of need.

Woodard is also part of the highly-trained team that hand delivers ShelterBox aid around the world. He has been a ShelterBox Response Team member since October 2012 and has deployed 10 times.

It is through the efforts of our hardworking volunteers, like Bill, Mary and Jeff, that we continue to provide aid to families during their greatest time of need.

Our organization could not exist without these Ambassadors, who continue to rally support in their local communities, ultimately making a difference in the lives of disaster survivors around the world.

Kerri Murray, President, ShelterBox USA

ShelterBox is currently responding to disasters in Peru and Colombia, and conflict in Niger, Cameroon and Chad. The organization has also been responding to the Syrian refugee crisis since October 2012, providing emergency tented shelter and other essential equipment to displaced families in and around Syria.
