Rotary District 7360 is committed to supporting the essential work of ShelterBox to further the vision that no family be without shelter when disaster strikes.
Rotary has been instrumental in the growth of ShelterBox. Since ShelterBox was founded in 2000, the organization has grown from one club’s adopted project to Rotary International’s only Project Partner in disaster relief. Rotary’s global network has been key in ShelterBox’s international growth. Together, ShelterBox and Rotary transform lives.
SHELTERBOX RESPONDING TO UKRAINE CRISIS
1. Working with our partner, People in Need, we’re sending mattresses to people living in ‘collective centers’ like schools and sports centers in Lviv, Ukraine. This will offer people somewhere to sleep and keep warm at night.
2. We’re preparing shelter kits with tools and rope, high thermal blankets, hygiene kits, solar lights and water carriers to help people survive in buildings damaged by the conflict.
3. We’ll be supporting refugees in neighboring countries with high priority items they can carry with them, like hygiene items and cash. Our teams are working with government representatives, Rotary and other humanitarian organizations in Moldova to draw up our plans.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN UKRAINE?
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a military operation on Ukraine.
Nearly 10 million people have already fled Ukraine to other countries – that’s almost a quarter of Ukraine’s entire population.
6.5 million people are now estimated to be displaced within Ukraine. In addition, more than 12 million people are thought to be cut off in places most ravaged by the conflict. Many are unable to leave because of damage to infrastructure, lack of resources, and the increased security risk.
The situation is developing rapidly, and the death toll is rising.
This latest escalation in military action comes after eight years of ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
